Children, like everyone else, are drawn to things they enjoy. The easiest way to teach golf to kids is to help them have fun with the game. Take them with you but don’t take things so serious. Laugh and smile and help them find a spark of curiosity. Talk about golf and why it’s fun to play. When a kid can learn the game in an environment that brings them joy, they are much more likely to stay with it. There’s a reason we call in “playing” golf. Let them see that side of the game! Show a child how golf is meant for having fun and you’ll unlock a lifetime of desire for the sport. Once they discover how golf can make them happy, the rest should take care of itself.
Each day I post a short golf story like this on my Instagram page @JayRevellWrites – now I’m bringing those musings to my website. Be sure to check in each day for my latest expressions on the game!
